    I am 62 and have taken vitamin C orally (1000 mg) for decades plus eat a ton of fresh fruits and veggies daily. No fillers or other procedures. Gentle face wash, and Strivectin face cream. Most people think I am in my 40s.
    Folks used to think I was even way younger a few years back but I have had some serious pain, sleep and trauma issues catch up with me.
    Recently started using topical C and some retinols as well. I am not sure I can see the results but I certainly feel them. I also started using Olay Retinol face cream at night and feel great.
    P.S. I used ("keep them guessing with...") Oil of Olay until a couple of decades ago when they changed the formula and I didn't like it anymore. Switched to Strivectin.

    I've been using a Vitamin C serum for a year now (I'm 49) and it's definitely faded some old sunspots and acne scars. I think it's slowing down the aging of my skin, especially considering the amount of stress I've been under. I would love to see videos on a couple of topics: 1) menopausal skin care, and if menopausal supplements help the skin, and 2) face yoga; I get a lot of ads for apps like Luvly, and I wonder, can you actually exercise your face? Vitamin C: one of the ingredients I have always left out of my skin care, because my understanding was that it is so unstable that it would degrade before it got used. Unless it were in a package that would allow for neither the entry of light nor entry of air into the product. Which always sounded practically impossible.

    i've been using a high quality 20% Vitamin C serum w/ferulic acid in it, in the morning for over a year. It has done nothing for my skin, that I can tell. I have a few tiny sun spots on my cheek; they look exactly the same, as far as I can tell. It's also done nothing for dark undereye circles. I've also been using an expensive Retinaldehyde serum lotion on my face nightly. Neither has apparently does much, if anything, for pigmentation issues like dark undereye circles and those tiny sun spots. i wear a mineral 50 UVA-UVB lotion daily and don't spend a lot of time in the sun. The Retinaldehyde lotion does seem to have made my skin better as far as thickness of skin and minor wrinkles. I'll continue with the Retinaldeyde but not buy any more Vitamin C serums, since they don't work for me. Maybe taking Vitamin C supplements would help. And maybe IPL is needed for those tiny sun spots, and retinaldehye and sunblock will help prevent them from returning. Don't know if IPL can be used for undereye dark circles.

      It will oxidize over time. How will you know? It goes from being a very clear light yellow to a darker yellow. It’s also best at least I do this to keep it in the fridge at a stable temperature. You can try Dr. karma’s Vitimin C, some like Timeless and I have been using Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. Vitamin C can come in a stabilized form meaning that it’s like a cream but most vitamin C’s are very similar to a light very very light oily substance. SkinCeuticals, CE Ferulic has so much clinical data to back it up! I hope this was helpful. Take care, Susan from Canada. PS. I always, always wear sunscreen of a 60+++ winter, summer, spring, fall. We actually don’t get a lot of sun here in Canada however I have been using sunscreen since my teens and I never ever laid in the sun.

    What is a good alternative to Vitamin C serum? I have tried countless brands, some with as little as 5% Vitamin C, and my dry, sensitive skin cannot tolerate any of them. Currently using and liking Timeless coq10.

    What do you think about vitamin C powder? Like L Ascorbic Acid mixed into a water based serum right before application? I'm sick of paying 100-200$ for serums that go bad, oxidize so quickly so I've been using a powder for a while now.

    Excellent presentation!! I use Vitamin C topically and supplement. Is it important to apply as your first ingredient on dry skin and wait before applying the rest of your skincare routine for maximum efficacy? Thank you so much.

    • @TheRealMerBer
      @TheRealMerBer Год назад +4

      Water degrades the efficacy of vitamin C so if it's put on a wet face, it becomes less effective. As far as your other creams, bc Vitamin C is so unstable, you want to assure your vitamin C has absorbed into your skin before applying anything else - there are so many ingredients in skincare & you don't want any to destroy your vitamin C.

    Hi Dr Karam. Can you please share insights on tretinoin and facial hair growth. I watched Dr Dray’s video where she discusses tretinoin for hair growth. I was surprised to read so many comments of women saying they have noticed quite some peach fuzz after using tretinoin. I went down this rabbit hole and goggled this, came across many threads where women reported facial hair growth after starting tretinoin.

    please help! I started using retinol eye cream, and it has caused sooooo many new wrinkles and fine lines under my eyes, I look so hideous! I'm moistuzing my eyes like crazy, but the wrinkles seem to be getting worse! is this part of the purging process? should I continue using retinol or stop? when will these new wrinkles go away? I'm sure these new wrinkles were caused by the retinol and they seemed to have appeared almost overnight!
